FREYA GRAF
The OG
Meet our head cauldron jockey and OG founder, Freya!
Since she hatched up the idea for Drop The Soap and started whipping up lube in her kitchen back in 2013, Freya has gone on to become a certified Yoni Mapping Therapist and Holistic Sex Coach and Educator. Not to mention the host of the juiciest podcast on the internet - The Labia Lounge.
So sex positivity is kinda her jam!
But long before all of that she’d been brewing all manner of herbal concoctions and natural potions from the moment she scored a book of edible skin care recipes from a garage sale at the age of 10.
Freya started creating all her own home, body, skin and hair care products to reduce the toxic load on her own health and that of mother nature.
Now she’s fiercely passionate about bringing these low-tox, planet-friendly values into everything she does so that Drop The Soap customers have options that they can feel fab about!

So we’ve all heard of green-washing, right?
It’s pretty rife these days since it became so trendy to be green and lots of us started paying more attention to what we were consuming with our health and the environment in mind…
Well, it’s made even easier for companies to market their products as being “natural” by the fact that the personal care industry is largely unregulated in many countries, and import/export laws are not particularly stringent!
Because overseas labelling and manufacturing laws vary so widely and some governments allow toxic chemicals to be used , things get pretty confusing and hard to track. For example, lethal additives that are banned in the UK, could be put in a moisturiser that’s made in China or the US and then sold in Australia. So the personal care sector is largely left to regulate itself due to the difficulty with being able to track and regulate the ingredients used.
Don’t know about you, but we think this is seriously scary stuff!

Our packaging, ingredients and everything that happens to get those materials from the “farm to table” (or in our case “farm to fanny”!) is taken into account to ensure that each unit of product you buy removes carbon from the atmosphere, rather than adding it. We use a combo of carbon offsets, eco-friendly packaging and intentional ingredient choice to make sure we’re treading lightly on our planet so you can feel good about your bedroom choices!
Our Jam
Our story began as friends trying to find our feet in Melbourne during our early twenties. From early mornings at boutique market stalls, to excited post office trips to fulfil sporadic Etsy orders, we embarked on a journey to change how people saw skin care and get our handmade products out into the world.
It turned out to be a preeeeeetty slow journey!
Over the years as we endeavoured to create completely natural products and invent packaging solutions that satisfied our personal and brand values of causing no harm to the body or the environment.
And you know what? That mission was pretty bloody hard when we got down to it!
And yes, maybe if we’d compromised on this core value we could’ve had products on shelves years ago…
But we didn’t just want to add to the plethora of green-washed products out there that weren’t that great for you and did our dear mother nature a mischief!
So we experimented with our packaging. We tried everything from recycled materials and compostable eco-plastics to 3D printing with biodegradable mushroom polymers!
We also faced the hurdle of tweaking our formulas so that they’d be able to handle different climates and last long enough on shelves without adding anything nasty or artificial.
In the early days all of our products were made from completely edible ingredients and our philosophy was that you shouldn’t put anything ON your body that you wouldn’t put IN it. Since the skin absorbs so much of what you put on it into the bloodstream, we feel this is such an important baseline for creating products that cause no harm to the consumer.
In fact, to emphasise this philosophy, we used to make a delicious cupcake frosting with our original Motion Lotion formula and give them away at our market stalls to show just how safe our products were!
